How to view/hide Gridlines in Excel

Gridlines are horizontal and vertical lines that divide the spreadsheet into cells.

By default, Gridlines are always visible.

Like in our below example we have a table in a spreadsheet. The Gridlines are visible in the spreadsheet.

Often you have a requirement to hide Gridlines when you create a template in excel.

To hide gridlines from the worksheet follow the below steps.

  • Go to view.
  • Uncheck the checkbox ‘Gridlines’.

Now see the spreadsheet looks like below after removing the gridlines. Please note the table borders are same as before.

You can repeat the same steps and select the checkbox ‘Gridlines’ to bring those back in the spreadsheet
